Class spotlight

Irish Figure and Step Dance – You’ve missed the first session, but there are still 7 sessions left in this fun and enlightening course on Irish dance and culture. It’s also a great way to develop balance and lower leg strength too.

This Friday

Join us for a special poetry reading by CCAE writing instructor Jane Katims. She’ll be reading from her latest collection Dancing on a Slippery Floor, all about her reactions to the world around her, and around us. At risk of sounding preferential, Jane is truly wonderful.

Jane Katims, left, with CCAE board president Bob Glover from the Leona Vogt Studio Opening.

His Eye is on the Sparrow

CCAE programmer Paula was at the scene of a birdy accident, when a sparrow was unwittingly hit by a car (so we assume) and fluttered to the earth beneath Paula’s car. Luckily, Paula was making her 19th trip to the meter when this happened, and called in for help. A noble band of Center staff members went out to the site, several blocks up Brattle Street, to help the chick. With the aid of an empty box, Paul moved the bird from the road to a soft patch of dirt beneath a row of bush. It looked quite peaceful.

Good work team!
